FAQ

We can imagine that you might have many questions.

If you don't find answers here, you may post questions in our Discord channel or reach out for assistance in your project's dedicated assistance channel.

Basic

Question: So, is CHIC a project with no content at all? Raphael: I believe you've read the whitepaper; its "framework" is the content; you can consider it that way.

Question: If the content is all artificial intelligence or player-made, what is the development team actually creating? Raphael: CHIC is a "technology company." It's not like visual products. If I were to simplify, you can think of it as "we are building the technology needed for the autonomous world," but not the "underlying technology."

Question: Can the content created by players for AICG really become part of the autonomous world? Aren't you centralized? Raphael: Yes, due to regulations, we are currently undoubtedly centralized. As for whether the content created by players can become part of the world, this question is quite complex. I need to clarify a conceptual key point.

Dove AI is the key to the world's dynamics + machine learning.

This means that the content of players will be learned by AI and stored in L2. With the characteristics of blockchain and the advancement of technology, your content may indeed change the composition of this world, such as missions. So yes, your content has the potential to construct something.

Question: What kind of framework will be expanded in the future? Can you reveal some details? Raphael: NFT attributes have already been exposed, but I believe the details cannot be disclosed. Don't forget, although this is like a world, it's ultimately virtual, it needs to be interesting + mysterious.

Question: Could the platform change due to DLCs? Raphael: Absolutely.

Question: Is it possible for you to develop "games"? For example, mobile or PC. Raphael: No. We focus on building worlds.

Question: Do your NFTs have real-world authorization? Is it possible for you to include RWA? Raphael: CHIC's NFTs do not fall under the realm of securities, so there won't be authorization. As for RWA, it's another field. We are not asset managers or banks.

Question: Which countries do you perform KYC & KYC for? Raphael: OMG. I can't disclose that; it's to prevent the possibility of expanding interpretations of nationality discrimination. I can only say that currently, "We only target Japanese citizens."

Question: Do you have a registered VASP in Japan? Raphael: As the autonomous world is still in its early stages and is novel, we are unsure if we need to apply for a VASP, as currently only exchanges require licensing. However, if mandated by the government or deemed necessary by our general counsel, rest assured we will comply with all legal requirements.

Question: What sets you apart from Loot? Raphael: That's a great question. In reality, its architecture is completely different; all FOCGs originated from Lootverse. While CHIC's initial version of NFTs may look identical to Loot, that's also what makes it interesting. I believe players can understand this from the whitepaper: it's completely different.

Question: Can you explain the differences between you and other autonomous worlds? Raphael: We prioritize innovative gameplay brought by technology over the specificity of the game itself, which may seem abstract. You can think of others as creating web games, while CHIC is like creating the "rule book" for D&D.

Question: You won't RUG? How do you convince the decentralized community? Raphael: I believe the whitepaper has demonstrated seriousness, and according to current regulations, centralized companies cannot RUG. We are not a shell company with an undisclosed team background. So, sorry, this is a startup, and RUGs only happen in projects and unregistered + unfunded companies.

Question: Can you expose the first DLC? It would be more convincing for players! Raphael: Well, I might accidentally let something slip during an AMA because I'm a person who loves to share things, haha... If you want to know, come listen to the AMA!

Question: Is it illegal for non-Japanese individuals to purchase your NFTs or tokens? Your whitepaper seems to discourage non-Japanese individuals from purchasing. Raphael: Yes. We suggest players to check their country's regulations before buying NFTs (which are considered investment activities by governments, please note). We don't deny that many countries' IP addresses have been restricted due to regulations or market prohibitions, so yes. If you're not a Japanese citizen, we hope you'll responsibly handle the potential legal responsibilities you might face.

Question: You are abandoning P2E Tokenomics, have you considered creating new Tokenomics to create a win-win situation between players and companies? Raphael: We believe that if players want to make money, they will use VPN to play P2E, even if P2E is considered illegal in South Korea, right? So, at this stage, we are not considering finance. But that doesn't mean we wouldn't explore the prospects of finance and gaming with Japanese gaming companies under the premise of complying with Japanese law. The key is legality.

Question: What can players do with the tokens they obtain in the early stages? Why don't you develop staking? Raphael: CHIC places great importance on compliance with cryptocurrency regulations. As staking is gradually seen as illegal in various countries, we believe that not developing staking is a way to protect the project, the team, and the players. Thus, initially, the tokens players obtain may not be used for much, as it's the early stage of the game. However, as DLCs start to appear, the importance of tokens will grow, and we hope players can hold them long-term and use them in the future.

Question: How do you protect our privacy? Raphael: I'm confident everyone is concerned about the "AI Ethics" outlined in the whitepaper. We prioritize user privacy, while MUD responsibly safeguards smart contracts. Dove AI, on the other hand, operates locally to effectively protect your privacy.

However, please note that the definition of privacy data is based on legal definitions of "sensitive information" rather than all content of the users. Non-sensitive information learned by AI will be treated as data and encrypted for protection in the database.

Question: What is autonomous agency? Where do you plan to develop it to? Raphael: This involves core technical issues, you can think of it as "More smart automated AI". As for future development, I'm sorry, I have no comment.

Question: Do you think centralized AI and decentralized autonomous worlds are compatible? Raphael: I believe the world's issues are not always black and white. Just as Web2 can never be completely replaced, decentralization and centralization are not necessarily always antagonistic. Compatibility is what we've always hoped to see on Mac, isn't it? In contrast, AI and autonomous worlds complement each other; it's not the devil of centralization.

Question: Can we say that you are creating "Ready Player One"? Raphael: Honestly, I haven't watched that movie. But when my CTO heard some concepts about AI-NPCs, his thoughts aligned with yours, so yes. You can perceive it that way, but it may be quite different from the movie. I still want to emphasize: science fiction is science fiction, and technology is technology.

Question: Is your virtual life similar to The Sims? Raphael: The Sims is an IP of EA and has no relation to CHIC. Additionally, there may be significant differences. The Sims is a virtual space within a PC game, and CHIC called "everything simulator" because it lacks an application. Everything is built on "what do you want to do?" When you hold your NFT, what do you want to do? It's like holding a D&D rulebook, where you decide what moves or actions to take to block attacks. It's abstract but also very concrete due to NFTs and AI.

Question: Are you shaping "ruleset creation as gameplay"? Raphael: Yes. But beyond that.

Question: Is the autonomous agent AGI? Do you have any preparations in case of loss of control? Raphael: The agent is not AGI. As for hypothetical questions, we do not provide any answers.

Question: How do you explain the 'fair use' of AI models? Does your project have any 'original' elements? Or are you simply using generative AI to plagiarize artists' works and construct your company, world with AI? Raphael: This is a strong questioning of tech companies, and I completely understand it. CHIC indeed did not hire any artists or creators to build the project. And while the initial prototype of NFTs was 100% like Loot, please don't forget that Loot falls under CC0. Furthermore, CHIC has officially embarked on a different path from Lootverse and FOCG. CHIC's "fair use" is all achieved within the restrictions of the Japanese Ministry of Culture, and if you're an artist or entrepreneur, you should understand that "innovative ideas" can almost entirely be considered company assets in legal contracts.

We develop AI in a responsible and ethical manner, adhering to relevant subsequent guidelines and regulations from the Japanese government. The entire team discusses various possibilities in uninterrupted meetings over the course of a year; we cannot erase everything because of deep learning. Whether it's 3D modeling, text, images, or future elements, everything is created by players.

The concept of "fair use" by governments and laws may have significant differences from what artists perceive as "fair" in the modern era, but "training" is a process. Training models is not plagiarism or imitation, and I believe I will definitely record a video in the future as CEO of CHIC to publicly share this on the internet for everyone's reference.

I understand very well the reluctance of artists to have their work used by tech companies as data for training, but I hope people believe that the intention of tech companies is not malicious. The Autonomous World team's expectations for AI are more about being "people-centric". This is not just a slogan but a belief that AI will help democratize creativity and give players more inspiration to create their second lives. This involves human creativity, innovation, and expertise. We also firmly believe that AI will make positive contributions to CHIC and AW.
